Cattery History

Amerikatz started it's life as Buddhas Meow Bengals in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Humble Beginnings

Our cattery began in 1996 as it is today; small and personalized.  Linda became friends with Pam Knowles of Cheetahsden during the time she lived in Salt Lake City and while completing her post doctorate at the University of Utah Medical Center.  They agreed on a co-ownership and CheetahsDen Anala of Buddhasmeow was the first Bengal and the “Matriarch” of our cattery (she is still with us today!  Her knickname is “Granny”).

Short Time in Texas

In 1998, a career opportunity had Linda moving to San Antonio, Texas, taking Anala with her.  During that time, Anala gave birth to a litter of kittens, producing BuddhasMeow “Bodhi” pictured here left.

Move to Illinois

After only living in Texas for 8 months, an even better career opportunity had Linda move again to Evanston, Illinois.  There in a small one bedroom condo, Linda continued the breeding program with Anala and some very substantial stud service crosses.  Queens Buddhasmeow Latika and Buddhasmeow Uncia were born in Evanston, Illinois.

Name change

The name change came about after Linda and Phillip met and were married in 2002. We chose the name Amerikatz to pay homage to our heritage. Linda being of German decent and Phillip being a native american.

Currrent History

We still abide from our original goal of producing the finest pet Bengals that we can.
